Sample Creative Writing:

Creative Writing is probably my favorite genre (although I enjoy them all) because it allows more freedom in structure and requires more imagination.

Essay Excerpt : The Beauty of Rowing and Competition

Passion. If I had to choose one word to describe crew, it would be passion. To stop fighting, to stop the love of hard work, to miss the feeling of a good row, is disaster. The disaster, is the loss of “the dream” as referred to by Dietz. That dream is something that rowers carry over to all other aspects of their lives. The passion, the drive, spills over into every other thing.

Rowing can also teach a person to conquer their fears. Fear of hard work, fear of pain, fear of inadequacy, can all be cured by a good tough coach, a strong boat, and an ergometer. A rower must face up to all these fears. The ultimate goal is to achieve strength, maintain a good sense of technique, make the “A” boat, survive one more erg test, impress the coach, make finals; the list goes on and on. Second place simply is not good enough. The only response to failure available is to work harder, to want success more, and to inspire greater passion in yourself and your fellow rowers.

Magazine Article Excerpt : Professionalism

Maintaining a professional image is essential to any successful home business endeavor. There are many aspects to professionalism, but the most important of these concerns communication. Communications with clients should always be professional, clear, and concise. This prevents miscommunication, which often leads to a negative reputation and could prevent you from establishing a regular client base.

A home business can attract clients via several methods. It is important to choose an appropriate company name and distinctive logo for your new company. Develop a professional vocabulary for describing your company to perspective customers. Use appropriate materials such as brochures, business cards, and an attractive letterhead to distribute information.
