Miscellaneous Writing Skills:Since it would be very difficult to demonstrate my editing and proofreading skills here, below is an except from an academic paper. Academic Article Excerpt : Quantum Physics and Modernism; an Unrealized Parallel Quantum physics was a movement of new ideas and theories which did not fit into classical physics. Quantum physicists strove to explain things that classical physicists could not. The Modernist movement began in the same way. Modernist writers felt that the previous works had been too stiff; too Victorian, stereotyped and inadequate. They wanted something which was more abstract and opinionated. Modernists believed in originality and questioning conventions. Both groups strove to break away from the past, and to form a new, influential movement. Not only did the Modernists strive to be different, but they really wanted to create something new that would explain things like heroes, war, death, and emotions. Modernists wanted to explain these things in a way which wasn’t like any other. The scientists and writers involved in both movements became recognized for their strange and unfamiliar ideas. At first, people tried to push them away, and keep them from recognition. People are often afraid of that which is different, and therefore it sometimes takes a long time for a new movement to gain momentum and followers. However, both Modernism and quantum physics survived the original push- and – shove, and have become even more interesting and influential over time. | ||||||||||||||||||||
